Improving Access to Quality Education

Access to quality education is a defining characteristic of a sustainable community. Building on its work with charter school facilities, LISC has expanded its focus, helping organizations work with school districts, parent-teacher groups, child care facilities, youth development and afterschool programs to help make local education a force for community improvement.

  • Educational Facilities

LISC's Educational Facilities Financing Center (EFFC) finances charter and alternative school development.
  • Child Care

In 1994 LISC established the Community Investment Collaborative for Kids (CICK) to offer financial and technical assistance to develop new, quality child care facilities in neighborhoods that need them.
